The Incomprehensibility of God – Eternality

Isaiah 40:28

“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.”

Reflection:

When did time begin? I don’t want to start your day by giving you a headache, so you don’t have to think too much about the impossible question. That one simple question makes me think about the beginning of a timeline which moves back, then back, then back, over and over and over again infinitely.

God has existed forever. Even apart from His perfections of nature, just thinking about the eternality of God should lead you this day to marvel at how God is something entirely different than me and you. God is someone who is not just better, He is other. He is infinitely greater.

Although I cannot comprehend the eternal nature of God, I can rejoice that you and I will spend eternity together with Him in paradise. Think today not only about the temporary and fleeting nature of the day ahead. Think also about the eternal nature of your loving God who has welcomed you into His perfect presence forever and praise His Name!

In Christ,
