Resting in Christ – Resting While Running

Hebrews 12:1

“Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”

Reflection:

Can you really still rest while running? God promises to give the Christian rest today…but then He tells us to go running and to keep running. So…how do you rest while you run?

Here is how you rest while you run: run the race today knowing that the victory is already yours! “Well, then I wouldn’t run,” you say. On the contrary – when I tell you how you have won, then you will understand. The victory is yours because God Himself has loved you so completely that even when you were His perfect enemy, even when you were dead in your sins, He died for you, suffering the pains of hell for you – but then He conquered death and rose from the grave! Now, God offers you freedom from hell and everlasting life in heaven simply by trusting in Jesus Christ as your Savior! If you understand just how thrilling is this salvation God offers you then you cannot sit still. If you truly understand salvation, then you will be so full of exhilarating joy that you cannot help but run! You cannot help but jump up, rejoice, and go from here to there with enthusiasm, saying to one and all, “How great is my God! I was dead, but now I am alive forevermore! Praise Him, praise Him, praise Him forevermore!”

In Christ,
