Resting in Christ – God With You

Exodus 33:12-14

“Moses said to the Lord, “See, you say to me, ‘Bring up this people,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. Yet you have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found favor in my sight.’ 13 Now therefore, if I have found favor in your sight, please show me now your ways, that I may know you in order to find favor in your sight. Consider too that this nation is your people.” 14 And he said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.””

Reflection:

Here is a man who asked God for help. He was trying to serve God and, knowing his weakness, he asked or help. God did not rebuke the man for the man’s weakness. On the contrary, the power of God is made perfect in our weakness. Instead, God said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

But that was Moses. Of course, God would be with Moses. Moses was amazing. The trouble is that you are not Moses. Would God want to be with you? Can He give you such a rest today?

Yes. Yes. Yes, to both questions.

Yes, God wants to be with you. Do you know how badly God wants to be with you? He gave up everything – He gave up His own Son – in order to be with you. He wants to be with you for eternity! If you place your faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior then your sins are so completely forgiven and His righteousness is so perfectly given to you that God desires to be with you as a Father who runs to His child whom He has missed for ages. God wants to be with you now, today, through the Holy Spirit.

Yes, God can give you such a rest today. Even though you have a full day ahead of you, God is able to keep your thoughts so firmly fixed on the joy He has won for you, fixed on your freedom from hell, fixed on your everlasting life in heaven, that you can go even through the day ahead with God with you who gives you peace every step of the way.

In Christ,
