Replacing Evil with God – The Armor of God

Ephesians 6:11

“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.”

Reflection:

God does not merely say to you, “Put down the pile of sludge you are holding in your hand.” He does not say to you, “Scrape the filth of sin off of yourself.” While that sounds fine, you would still be standing naked to the world! Rid your life of your sin and then, for the glory of God and out of love for Jesus Christ, put on the Armor of God! Replace the evil in your life with godliness! So you have pulled the arrows of Satan from your heart so that you are no longer practicing that sin. Great. Don’t just stand still, bare and unprotected, open to being pierced again – put on the breastplate of righteousness! Go do something good for the glory of God rather than just sitting there waiting for your sin to fly back into your heart. Put down your evil and pick up the sword of the Spirit, praying and glorifying God! You will never win the battle against the evil in your life by simply trying to avoid evil. Rip the evil from your life and replace it with righteous action so that you might be so busy doing good and glorifying God that you no longer have time to be wounded and held back by your former sin.

In Christ,
