Growing in Christ – Growing Down

Matthew 11:29

“Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Reflection:

“Stronger, richer, better.” These are common human resolutions. Do something to exalt yourself this year.

Jesus Christ says, “Lower.” If you really want to grow, then begin by growing down. Learn wisdom by bowing low before God almighty. Learn love by putting yourself beneath others. Learn from the Lord who Himself is so gentle and lowly in heart that He put Himself beneath you.

If you are able to grow in this way, then the Lord tells you today that they result will be “rest for your soul.” You will not find rest for your soul through chasing money, power, fame, or the things of this world. Such a chase will only cause more hunger and unrest. Learn to grow down. Then you will find rest for your soul.

In Christ,
