The Underappreciated Suffering of Jesus – Hunger

Matthew 4:2

“And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.”

Reflection:

Will we eat in heaven at the banqueting table, or will we partake of the fruit of life and never need to eat again? It is an intriguing question because we know that whatever the answer is, we will be satisfied.

Jesus left perfect satisfaction and experienced hunger for your sake. With His hunger came weakness, light-headedness, and fatigue. Yet He continued in His suffering, moment-by-moment, step-by-step, in order to pay for all of your sin. It is right for us to thank Him for the cross, but especially in the Christmas season, it is fitting that we would thank Him for all of the suffering He endured for our sin from the moment of His incarnation.

In Christ,
