The Gift of the Holy Spirit – Sanctification

2 Thessalonians 2:16

“But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth.”

Reflection:

Christian, the Holy Spirit sanctifies you. That means that the Holy Spirit makes you holy: He sets you apart to live a life that pleases God and He enables you to live that life. The Holy Spirit helps you to slay sin within you and then, after mortifying the evil within, causes you to come alive to righteousness. I don’t know if you are excited, nonplussed, or dreading the day ahead. But if you are a Christian, think of how thrilling it is that today God, the Holy Spirit, is with you and you have the opportunity to grow in sanctification through His power, killing the wretched and coming alive in God.

In Christ,
