Thanksgiving - Would You Say ‘Thank You’?

Luke 17:15-17

“Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice; and he fell on his face at Jesus' feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan. Then Jesus answered, ‘Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine?’”

Reflection:

If you had leprosy in the 1st century that meant that, as long as you had leprosy (which was often for the rest of your life), you had to live outside the city apart from all civilization. When Jesus cured the 10 lepers, He did not only gave them good health; He also restored them back to life in civilization. Do you know how many of them said ‘thank you’? ONE! Please, think of a word that describes the other nine. What word (and there are many) would you call someone like that?

God has done more for you than the cured leper. You, barred from heaven and bound for hell, were dead in your sin. You had no hope of escape until God Himself traded places with you. He suffered the pains of hell for you. He lived a perfectly righteous life and gave you the credit after taking the filth of your guilt on Himself.

Will you say thank you?

In Christ,
