Matthew 5:23-24
“So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.”
Reflection:
Here is a very strange question, but it will be helpful to ask: what is more important, Jesus…or church? When done correctly, there should be no distinction! A love for Jesus is necessarily connected to worshiping Him together with fellow Christians as He has commanded and as your heart desires! Yet, even when it comes to church, if you find that there is a way that you personally need to glorify God by repenting of your sin and loving others, then you should not put your routine before loving others. A refusal to love others is an open rejection of Jesus. You cannot properly worship if you are living in unrepentant sin. Get up. Go repent and love as you ought. You can always go to the evening service. It is so desperately urgent for you to put Jesus first in your every decision that our Lord even says here, “if you remember that your brother has something against you, leave…first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.”
