Predicting Christmas – The Reason for Christmas

Genesis 2:17

“But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

Reflection:

So many people believe that they appreciate Christmas, but in reality, they only appreciate the smallest sliver of the season. Most people like the lights, the gifts, the cookies, and the time together with others, but there is so much more to Christmas! Christmas only came because we deserve death. Yet instead of giving us justice, God instead gave us Himself. God became a baby (!) to suffer for the guilt and death we owe. That is the reason for Christmas. It is both infinitely horrific and perfectly beautiful. We have been looking forward to Christmas since the beginning. The gifts and the food are certainly nice…but nothing compares to God becoming man to take our death and give us eternal life.

In Christ,
