Predicting Christmas – God Become Man

Isaiah 9:6

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Reflection:

Isaiah declares that God Himself is going to live among us. In order to save us He is going to be born as a human!

“Ah, but Isaiah, how can that be?” people would certainly ask him. “Don’t you realize that you are saying insane things? I am seriously concerned for your mental health. Don’t you realize that the sort of thing you are describing simply isn’t possible? God cannot become man.”

But Isaiah responds by saying here in this text, “Yes, He can and He certainly will. God has told me He will and so, no matter how absurd it sounds to you, I must write it down.” Write it down He did, centuries before it happened, 500-700 years before the fact.

Here we are today, over 2,000 years later, looking forward to celebrating the fulfillment of this astonishing and seemingly impossible prophecy.

In Christ,

Pastor Yonkman
