How to Be Justified by God – Proclaimed Righteous

Genesis 15:6

“And he believed the Lord, and he counted it to him as righteousness.”

Reflection:

To be justified means that God proclaims you righteous.

Is that possible? Honestly, do you believe that God can look at you, knowing everything about you, and say to you, “You are righteous”?

Yes. He can. Just as God pronounced Abraham righteous back in Genesis, just as God has pronounced every Christian righteous, so He can and will do the same for you.

God is not a liar. He is not pretending that you are righteous. Christian, God proclaims you righteous because that is precisely what you are. To be a Christian means that you know yourself to be a sinner, but you repent of your sin and trust in the grace of God by placing your faith in Jesus Christ. Through that simple action, you are forgiven of all of your sin – ALL of it. Your sin is taken off of you and placed on Jesus. He trades with you and gives you in exchange His righteousness. Christian, you are covered in the righteousness of Jesus! That is how God is able to look at you and, knowing everything about you, say to you today, “You are righteous.”

In Christ,
